Hi, I'm Deb and I'm glad you're here!
My husband, Keith and I have a teen daughter, Alexandra and a grown son, Daniel. We’re originally from northwest Louisiana where the weather is hot and humid and the tea is cold and sweet. 😍
We moved to Iowa four years ago for my husband’s job. Although we miss our friends and family in LA and the transition was challenging, we absolutely love Iowa and the wonderful people here. We are active in our local church and church small group. I also enjoy the women’s ministry and Precepts Bible Study at our church.
One of the most fulfilling things I do besides being a wife and mom is praying with other moms and sharing about prayer through serving as a coordinator for Moms in Prayer International. In my spare time, I enjoy listening to Amish fiction audio books and baking chocolate chip cookies. 😊
About the blog
I started the blog just to put scriptures and scripture prayers on pretty pictures for my friends. When people I didn't know began subscribing to my blog, I started sharing what I had been learning about prayer and about growing closer to the Lord. My desire is to provide inspiration and tools to help women have hope and grow in their faith.
As a young child, I remember sitting on the "big" hill (everything seems SO much bigger when we're young) in my front yard talking to God. I knew he loved me and was for me. Then, life brought difficulties. My parents divorced when I was five years old and I encountered some challenges through the following years.
I am ever so grateful that my mom took my brother and me to church every Sunday. I learned about Jesus and that he died for my sins, and I received his gift of salvation.
The summer before my senior year of high school, I worked in the office at an oil company. My manager was a Christian, and as I heard her talk about Jesus like he was her best friend, I wanted to know him more and began pursuing a deeper relationship with him.
This journey has had ups and downs. While on God's path, I have taken some detours along the way, but this I know: staying on His path, listening and obeying Him, is much better!!! Being a follower of Christ has transformed my life and filled it with overflowing blessings! If you are desiring this relationship too, check out this page:
About Moms in Prayer
When our daughter, Alexandra, started kindergarten, I was concerned about many things. Dropping her off in carline for the very first time to walk down that LONG sidewalk stirred a new level of anxiety for me. After reading the book, "Every Child Needs a Praying Mom" by Fern Nichols, I was inspired with hope and started a Moms in Prayer group with a friend. Praying with other moms for our kids for one hour each week taught me to allow God to replace that concern and anxiety with His comfort and peace. Alexandra is almost 17 now and praying in a Moms in Prayer group is still one of the most powerful things I do as a mom. My prayer for you:
May the LORD bless you and protect you; may the LORD make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; may the LORD look with favor on you and give you peace.
